Potato Moth - Quarantine Object in the Russian Federation
In the seaport of Tuapse, the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea prevented the import of contaminated regulated products into Russia.
On a ship arriving from Turkey, in a consignment of tomatoes (22 tons), a live caterpillar of a potato moth, a quarantine facility for the Russian Federation, was identified.
The presence and viability of a quarantine pest in a batch of regulated products is confirmed by the conclusion on the quarantine phytosanitary condition of regulated products of the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal Research Institution VNIIKR subordinate to Rosselkhoznadzor.
This year is the first case of the discovery of potato moth on tomatoes that arrived from Turkey.
Potato Moth (Phthorimaea operculella cell.) - a plant pest, limited in the territory of the Russian Federation.
It damages fruits, tubers and the vegetative part of potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, tobacco, pepper and other nightshade. Tubers damaged by caterpillars of potato moths are poorly stored, lose their presentation and quality.
