This week, in most regions of the Russian Federation, there was an increase in prices for white cabbage, but the upward price trend was inherent exclusively in the segment of high-quality products, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. This was due to a rather limited supply of high-quality cabbage, since most farms put it in storage, refusing to sell it at current prices.
According to the daily monitoring of the project, only from the beginning of the week, cabbage in the main regions of production rose by an average of 17%. Today, Russian farmers are ready to ship these products at a price of 9-16 rubles / kg ($ 0,14-0,25 / kg) depending on quality, while at the end of the last working week the price of these products started from 7 rubles / kg ( $ 0,11 / kg).
At the same time, farms also remained significant volumes of cabbage, which is unsuitable for long-term storage. Farmers are trying to sell these products in the first place and are willing to give in price. The offer of such cabbage came at prices of 6-8 rubles / kg ($ 0,09-0,12 / kg).
At the same time, it is worth noting that in early November 2018, the price of white cabbage in Russia was on average 22% higher than today, since in the same last year period, it was difficult to harvest late varieties due to rainy weather.
