On the Russian market of onions, the trend of rising prices remains. According to the daily monitoring of the EastFruit project, only since the beginning of this week, these products have risen in price by an average of 31%.
Today, Russian farmers are ready to ship onions from 15 to 25 rubles / kg ($ 0,19-0,32 / kg), and owners of high-quality products also declare higher prices. For comparison, last week the main sales of onions were not more expensive than 18 rubles / kg ($ 0,23 / kg).
Producers succeeded in raising the price of onions due to the intensification of trade and procurement activities in the market, while the stocks of these products in farms are rapidly declining. Also, onion prices in Russia are supported by the lack of imported products. Due to quarantine measures, onion imports from Kazakhstan are temporarily suspended.
At the same time, it is worth noting that despite the next rise in price in the onion segment, today these products on the Russian market still cost on average 20% cheaper than at the end of March 2019. According to market operators, the rise in prices for onions in the Russian Federation will only intensify, as many manufacturers have already completed the season for selling these products, and you can’t count on the arrival of imported onions in the near future.
