Russian potatoes were brought into the republic by road through the Kazbegi checkpoint. The product was tested in a local laboratory, where the presence of quarantine harmful organisms in agricultural products was detected.
According to the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the imported potatoes did not meet safety standards. Therefore, the receiving party was forced to return almost 21 tons of tubers to Russia.
All products imported into Georgia are subject to mandatory sanitary inspection. And low-quality agricultural products are immediately returned to the exporting country.
