Minister of Agriculture and Consumer Market Anna Kuznetsova reported that potato yields significantly exceeded last season's figures. From each hectare it was possible to accumulate 184,9 quintals of agricultural products, or 51,5 quintals more than in 2022. In total, 259,8 thousand tons of tubers were collected this year.
Sverdlovsk farmers also grew 32,1 thousand tons of open ground vegetables (on an area of 1,1 thousand hectares).
High air temperatures and lack of precipitation in the summer led to severe drought. At the end of July, regional governor Evgeny Kuyvashev declared a state of emergency in 42 municipalities affected by the heat. Thanks to the timely actions of the authorities, farmers in the Middle Urals managed to avoid fines due to the low yields of some crops.
