In the Tambov region, work is underway to increase the area of irrigated land. In 2020, the region plans to commission 800 hectares of fields under irrigation.
According to the regional agricultural department, over the past 3 years, irrigation systems with a total design capacity of over 2,2 thousand hectares have been built and commissioned in the Tambov region as part of the departmental program "Development of the Land Reclamation Complex of Russia". Potatoes, corn, soybeans, and sugar beets are grown on irrigated areas.
In 2020, agricultural producers plan to commission 800 hectares of irrigated land. One of the main participants in the Development of the Land Reclamation Complex of Russia program is Zolotaya Niva LLC, Belaya Dacha Farming LLC and Tambovagrofood LLC.
According to Tambovmeliovodkhoz as of 01.01.2020, in total in the Tambov region it is planned to irrigate over 8 thousand hectares of agricultural land.
