Potato planting has begun in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen press writes. This year, 11 hectares of land have been allocated for vegetables and melons in the region. Potatoes will grow on 670 hectares of land.
In order to get a rich harvest, 1400 hectares have been allocated to farmers for planting spring varieties of potatoes. 900 hectares have been allocated for planting autumn varieties.
In total, the region plans to receive 19 tons of potatoes in summer and 600 tons in autumn. Such data were given by specialists at a meeting held at the regional mayor's office before the start of sowing.
The start of planting was given on the territory of the Tebigy ekin farming association, which was established in the Lebap region in 2018 and specializes in growing vegetables and melons.
