According to statistics, farms and private farms produce almost half of the country’s agricultural products. However, most farmers face serious difficulties in selling their goods.
The number of markets in Russia has decreased by 6,5 times in recent years. Getting on the shelves of large retail stores is hampered by the complexity of the contractual procedures practiced by chains.
To help agricultural producers, the Federation Council developed a bill introducing the concept of “farm products.” The document allows for the creation of agro-aggregators - enterprises that will purchase products from farmers, process and sell them.
As noted by the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy, Sergei Mitin, preference when creating such structures should be given to agricultural cooperatives. And resellers and speculators should remain outside the field of this useful endeavor.
In addition, it is proposed to develop other promising sales channels for farm goods. Including through online sales on marketplaces specially created with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
