Agrarians of the Vologda Oblast plan to collect at least 56 thousand tons of potatoes and 7,6 thousand tons of vegetables and fully provide the population of the region with these crops. This was announced by the head of the department of agriculture and food resources of the Vologda region Sergey Poromonov.
“The plan for the collection of potatoes this year is 56,5 thousand tons, and we forecast that it will be 100% fulfilled. It is also planned to collect at least 7,6 thousand tons of open field vegetables, this figure will be met, and we will provide the population with vegetables and potatoes completely, ”Poromonov said at an operational meeting with the regional governor.
At the moment, the head of the department said that 58% of the sown area for potatoes has been cultivated, 38 thousand tons have been harvested with an average yield of 233 centners per hectare. Last year, due to the cold and rainy summer, it was possible to collect less than 100 centners per hectare. In addition, a quarter of the sown area with vegetables was harvested - 55 hectares, 2,2 thousand tons were harvested.
At the same time, it is planned to produce 150 thousand tons of grain with a plan of 220 thousand tons, flax fiber - 2,5 thousand tons with a plan of 3,4 thousand tons, since this crop was sown 600 hectares less. “The decrease in sown areas by 9,3 thousand ha to 353 thousand ha is due to the fact that the cold, damp summer of last year, and waterlogging of the soils did not allow them to be prepared in the fall for the upcoming sowing, and it is impossible to complete the entire amount of work in spring," the head explained department.
At the same time, enterprises continue to procure feed for the winter, 94% of the plan has been fulfilled - 287 thousand tons of grass feed or more than 21 centners per livestock head has been procured with a plan of 23 centners. Already now the farms are preparing for the next sowing, seeds are being prepared, winter crops sowing, plowing.
