The results of monitoring conducted by the Potato Union showed that at the end of August 2023, the average price of new crop products was 19 rubles/kg. That is, during this period, tubers cost 27% cheaper than a month earlier, and almost half as much as in 2022 (36 rubles/kg). We are talking about unwashed potatoes, which are supplied to retail chains packaged in 25 kg nets.
Experts cite the high crop yield in our country as the main reason for the sharp decline in the cost of second bread. According to their forecasts, prices will stabilize by the end of harvesting. Already in October, agricultural producers will finish selling surplus goods, and the rest will be sent for storage.
