The demand for potatoes in Tashkent has grown by 50% amid quarantine and excitement in the markets. This was announced on March 31 by the first deputy khokim (mayor) of the city of Hotambek Shokirov at a meeting of the international press club.
According to him, before the introduction of quarantine, residents of Tashkent consumed 100 tons of potatoes per day. However, the spread of coronavirus caused a panic among the population, said Shokirov, so consumption increased to 150 tons per day.
