Farms of the republic harvested about 90 percent of potato crops.
This year it is planned to collect twice as much “second bread” as in the past. This was told to the BNK by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Komi Government - the head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture Anatoly Knyazev during a working visit to the Zelenetskaya poultry farm.
According to the republic’s chief agrarian, this year they started harvesting potatoes 7-10 days later than usual. Affected late landing due to cold weather in May.
To date, about 90% of the cultivated area has been harvested. According to the Komi Ministry of Agriculture, the average potato yield on farms is 154 centners per hectare, which is two times higher than last year.
In total, it is planned to collect about six thousand tons of potatoes. Last year, farmers harvested a little more than three thousand tons.
Anatoly Knyazev noted that the yield depends on the weather and the state of the soil. This year, the plantings suffered less from late blight due to the dry and hot summer weather. He stressed. that the main feature of northern potato growing is the absence of pesticide treatment. That is, the consumer receives pure organic vegetables at the exit.
Farms have not yet started harvesting other vegetables. It is planned to collect about a thousand tons of carrots and cabbage.
