The issue of providing the farmers of the region with seeds in the new economic conditions deserves special attention. That is why at the regional agricultural exhibition "Field Day - 2022" they discussed the prospects for the development of seed production in the region, reserves for reducing the dependence of the domestic market on the supply of imported seeds and hybrids of agricultural crops. The event was attended by heads and agronomists of agricultural organizations, heads of agricultural departments of the region's districts, representatives of science and education, legislative and executive authorities.
Leonid Shorokhov, Deputy Chairman of the Krai Government - Minister of Agriculture and Trade: “Seed-growing work in the region is organized at a high level. As for grain, the situation in the country as a whole and in the region in particular is confident. However, we have many reserves in the production of seeds of vegetable, oilseeds and fodder crops. Import substitution of seed material, the development of domestic selection are the key tasks that the federal center focuses on.”
The heads of scientific organizations from the Krasnoyarsk and Altai Territories, the Novosibirsk Region presented achievements in the selection of crops as an alternative to imported seed.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the agricultural holding Dary Malinovki Vasily German shared the experience of the enterprise in breeding and seed production of potatoes. This work is carried out by the farm together with the Krasnoyarsk Agrarian University within the framework of a federal project. "We see the risks associated with imported seeds of some crops in our country, and we are making a lot of efforts to reduce this dependence,” - noted Vasily German.
This year, Dary Malinovka shipped 2,2 thousand tons of seed potatoes, as well as 200 tons of rape seeds and 2,7 thousand tons of cereal seeds.
Summing up, the minister informed about the beginning of the harvest in the region and the priorities in crop production. “21 grain-producing regions out of 37 were included in the harvest. 79 thousand tons of grain were harvested with an average yield of 27 centners per hectare,” сказал Leonid Shorokhov. - The region has great prospects for further development of both traditional and new directions in crop production. It is necessary to continue selection work with agricultural crops, to create selection and seed-growing centers. We will support such projects in every possible way. Also improve the fodder production system, put into circulation unused agricultural land, increase the volume of production of potatoes and vegetables in the region.”
