5 tons of potatoes will be shipped to Turkmenistan through the Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port (MMTP).
Potatoes will be delivered in two batches, TASS reported March 12, citing the port’s press service.
According to the general director of the Moscow Industrial and Commercial Council, Murad Khidirov, the first batch of potatoes from North Ossetia has already been delivered by truck in bags and loaded on board the Balkan tanker.
“The weight of export cargo is more than 2 thousand tons. Another vessel - “Turkmenistan” - is waiting for a mooring team at the raid, more than 3 thousand tons of potatoes will be loaded onto its board, ”Khidirov said.
Recall that after Turkmenistan, as one of the measures to prevent the penetration of the coronavirus COVID-19, closed its border with Iran at the end of February, potatoes disappeared from the country's markets. To reassure the population, at the end of February, khyakims of the regions held meetings with elders, where they talked about the government’s plans to import potatoes from Russia and about negotiations with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan on the supply of onions.
Addition. According to the Chronicle of Turkmenistan, in the markets of Ashgabat, Russian potatoes are already sold at a price of 12 manat per kilogram.
