The Bryansk region became the leader among the regions of Russia in potato production.
Governor of the Bryansk region Alexander Bogomaz said this, speaking to the agrarians of the region, the press service of the regional government said.
“The Bryansk region is a leader today, we have no equal in Russia. We also bypass Belarus in industrial production of potatoes. The second region in Russia, which follows us, produces less potatoes than our one region, ”said Bogomaz.
He noted that the three leaders in potato production included the producers of the Starodubsky region - about 300 thousand tons of potatoes. The Unechsky region is in second place - more than 128 thousand tons, in the third place is the Pogarsky region - 91,8 thousand tons.
The head of the region noted that "not only this year we have increased the area of potato planting by 2,4 thousand hectares, but also in difficult climatic conditions have received more than 870 thousand tons." He also said that the average yield of potatoes in agricultural enterprises of the region was 327 c / ha, and the maximum was in the Vygonichi region - 400,8 c / ha.
