On March 29, a meeting dedicated to the development of potato growing in the region was held at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region.
Vasily Dergilev, Senior Researcher, South Ural Research Institute of Horticulture and Potato Growing (YuUNIISK), introduced a new potato variety Shihan.
Speaking about the features of the novelty, the scientist noted that this is a mid-season variety, as a rule, there are 12-14 tubers in the nest, the average tuber weight is 100-110 grams (and it remains in most cases even when the level of moisture changes). Sheehan has a high solids content, which makes it potentially interesting for processing.
According to the specialist, Shikhan, like a number of other varieties of YuUNIISK breeding, is characterized by high heat resistance, which is very important for growing in the conditions of the Southern Urals and the Orenburg region. In addition, the variety is bred in conditions of high soil density, it tolerates the effects of irrigation well.
Potato growers of the region will be able to personally assess the quality of the new variety at the Potato Field Day, which is held annually in the Chelyabinsk region. You can buy super-elite and elite seeds today by contacting YuUNIISK.
