Solana is a family-owned company that has been breeding and seed-growing potatoes since 1905, carefully preserving business traditions and passing on experience and new achievements from generation to generation.
The main goal of Solana breeding is to develop economically attractive and effective varieties that are resistant to a number of diseases caused by viruses, bacteria and fungi, varieties that give a stable high yield with less application of plant protection products and fertilizers, which contributes to the preservation of the environment, while the varieties are distinguished by good taste, attractive presentation of tubers and characteristics necessary for the modern potato market.
The selection is carried out at our own breeding stations in Germany and Holland, which are located in unique natural and climatic conditions to avoid infection with viruses and fungal diseases.
The SOLANA assortment includes varieties of various uses, ripening periods, intended for different climatic zones: universal table varieties, varieties for washing, cleaning, packaging, production of chips, french fries, starch, early and medium early. At the moment, there are 25 varieties in the State Register of Varieties of the Russian Federation.
In 2021, two more novelties were registered: EDISON and KING RUSSET varieties.
Solana supplies seed potatoes to more than 40 countries around the world. In Russia, the history of Solana began back in 1991 with the first deliveries and production of potatoes together with Russian partners. In 1994 the company submitted its first application to the State Sort Commission for the registration of new varieties ROSARA and ZEKURA. And already in 1995, the first joint Russian-German enterprise for the production of seed potatoes, ZAO Samara-Solana, was created, thus, the Solana company became one of the first to localize the production of seed potatoes in Russia and has been producing seed potatoes in our country for more than 25 years. potatoes. The production of localized potatoes is carried out in strict accordance with German quality standards and the requirements of GOST RF.
The Solana company is sensitive to the requirements of the Russian market and conducts breeding work taking into account the preferences of the Russian consumer.
