In 1987, Franz Grimme founded the company INTERNORM, a company for the production of products made of synthetic materials, and in 1995, the company RICON, specializing in the manufacture of screening and conveying technology. Thanks to these two companies, he created component suppliers who now supply parts not only for the manufacturing companies of the GRIMME Group, but also for many other well-known companies producing agricultural and other machinery.
INTERNORM: from idea to finished product
In the mid-1980s, Franz Grimme discovered the possibilities of using products made from highly elastic and wear-resistant polymeric material polyurethane for the production of agricultural machinery. On the basis of initial experiments in an old blacksmith's shop, INTERNORM was founded in 1987, which today has 270 employees, including 20 apprentices. Since its inception, INTERNORM, a subsidiary of the GRIMME Group, has been developing and producing high-quality and wear-resistant products made of polymer materials, primarily polyurethane roller and roller coatings, molded and cast products. INTERNORM supplies parts to customers all over the world. The turnover of the company with the GRIMME Group is only approx. 30% of the total turnover. In fiscal 2021, the company was able to increase its turnover by 23,5%, which amounted to 47 million euros. Despite high demands around the world, the outlook for the current fiscal year remains positive. The course for further expansion continues, and as a result of the construction of a new building with an area of 2800 sq. m also increase production capacity.
The proportion of skilled workers at INTERNORM is 100%, highly specialized jobs require highly qualified employees. In order to meet the increased requirements, in 2019 the company created its own training and production workshop.
RICON: screening and conveying technology
For over 60 years, GRIMME Landmaschinenfabrik has been developing and manufacturing screening and conveying technology. Franz Grimme founded RICON in 1995 on the basis of the high demand for these special products on the international market. Now it is located in a state-of-the-art production building with an area of 18 square meters. m in the Lower Saxony Park, Riste (approx. 000 km from Damme).
Over 150 employees develop and produce an average of over 27 conveyors per year. The production program covers more than 000 different variants for GRIMME, SPUDNIK and ASA-LIFT, as well as for other well-known companies, in particular also for food industry enterprises. 5000 conveyors are kept permanently in the large logistics center, which guarantees the customer a high degree of product availability, especially during delivery times.
With the addition of the former supplier Kunow from Altena (near Lüdenscheid, Sauerland) to the company, the production of spring steel products was also significantly increased. A flood in 2021 damaged part of Kunow's production equipment. Thanks to the high enthusiasm of the staff of the enterprise, the equipment was again put into operation in a short time.
In fiscal 2021, RICON was able to increase its turnover to 30,3 million compared to 27,9 million in 2020. As for fiscal 2022, Philipp Grimme and Felix Lingens are looking forward to continued growth.
