The system of crop fertilization in modern agriculture, as a rule, includes the introduction of the main nutrients - nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium; sometimes organic fertilizers applied once per crop rotation; and microelements, more often used in top dressing.
However, for the full realization of the yield and quality potential of varieties and hybrids, additional use of mesoelements, such as calcium and magnesium, is required. These two elements play an important role in the plant organism: they stimulate the development of the root system, have a positive effect on the growth of the aerial parts, participate in the process of photosynthesis, slow down the aging of plants and increase resistance to diseases. In the soil, the importance of calcium and magnesium can hardly be overestimated, as they are the guardians of fertility. Most often they are presented in the form of carbonates.
Losses of carbonates from leaching and removal by plants amount to hundreds of irreplaceable kilograms annually, which negatively affects the productivity of crops.
Innovative products from Omia appeared in Russia - Calcipril and Magprill, which successfully compensate for the lack of carbonates and effectively deoxidize the soil. For sensitive crops such as potatoes, sugar beet, legumes, corn, the use of Omia Magprill. On acidic soils, when applying Omia Magprill, which contains 25% calcium and 9% magnesium, not only the physical and chemical properties of the soil improve due to the neutralization of excess acidity, but also the nutrition of plants with calcium and magnesium. The action of the drug (as an ameliorant and fertilizer) lasts for several seasons (depending on the dose and method of application), and the primary effect occurs within 4 weeks after the application and dissolution of the drug in the soil. This is possible due to the fact that natural dolomite (from which the product is made) is presented in the form of a micronized, finely ground powder. After grinding, the powder is granulated (granule size 2-6 mm), which greatly simplifies the technological application and allows the use of Omia Magprill both randomly and locally.
In 2021, Omia Magprill at a dose of 300 kg/ha was tested in the cultivation of potatoes without irrigation in the Yaroslavl region. The variety Gala was grown on sandy loamy soil. The yield in the control was 28,2 t/ha, in the variant with Magprill - 30,8 t/ha, which is 2,6 t or 9,2% more.
Product | Dose, kg/ha | Product costs, rub/ha | Yield increase, t/ha | Cost of additional crop, rub/ha | Additional income, rub/ha |
Magprill, KFH "Magro", Yaroslavl region | 300 | 8487 | 2,6 | 26000 | 17513 |
The increase in yield occurs both due to the overall increase in the mass of tubers, and due to the greater yield of a large fraction, which is a necessary quality indicator for marketable potatoes.
The calculations used the current price for Omia Magprill and the average long-term price for potatoes - 10 rubles/kg. The resulting increase in yield covers the cost of applying the product and allows you to get an additional income of 17 rubles/ha.
