Potato System magazine publishes a daily report on the situation in the table potato market. We receive information about prices and harvesting progress from agricultural producers from different regions of Russia.
In regions where potato harvesting continues, work in the field is delayed primarily due to weather conditions. So, in the Rostov region, in the Kuban and in Tatarstan, heavy rains do not stop. Farmers in the Moscow region have similar problems, where, in addition, the first frosts were recorded. Early winter came to the Vologda region this year, but local potato growers managed to harvest before freezing temperatures set in. In the Novgorod and Smolensk regions, crop harvesting has also been completed, but the summer heat and drought seriously spoiled the yield indicators.
As of November 1, 2022, Russian potato growers were selling table potatoes (lots of 20 tons or more) at prices ranging from 10 to 30 rubles/kg. The cheapest products could be purchased in the Republic of Tatarstan (10 rubles/kg).
Potatoes were slightly more expensive in the Bryansk region (11,00 rubles/kg).
Potatoes were even more expensive in Mari El, Omsk, Tula regions and Chuvashia (13,00 rubles/kg); Ryazan Region (14,00 RUB/kg); Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg regions and Altai Territory (15,00 rub/kg);
The average price level (from 16 to 19 rubles/kg) was established in the Samara, Ulyanovsk, Penza, Kemerovo regions.
Even higher (20,00-25,00 rubles/kg) the bar was raised in the Moscow, Vologda, Smolensk regions. And the highest prices for potatoes (26-30 rubles/kg) were recorded in the Kursk region.
