An industrial cluster for processing potatoes, which will produce annually more than 100 thousand tons of starch-based products for the food, pulp and paper industry and oil production, is planned to be created near Novosibirsk.
This was announced on Tuesday at a meeting on biotechnology with Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Acting Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, Andrei Travnikov.
“Within the framework of the program for the reindustrialization of the economy, a project is being developed for an industrial cluster for potato processing. Total investments in the project will amount to at least 12 billion rubles, the payback period is no more than five years, and the achievement of the level of import substitution is at least 40%, ”Travnikov said.
The cluster will produce primary starch, modified starches for the production of paper and cardboard, oil production, the food industry, xanthan gum and fiber.
According to Travnikov, annually the cluster will be able to replace imports of about 85 thousand tons of products based on modified starch, 30-40 thousand tons of products based on unmodified starch, 25 thousand tons of gum.
