In the Khabarovsk Territory, they adopted a concept for the development of vegetable growing and potato growing, which combined all forms of support for this area. We are talking about subsidizing sowing, purchasing elite seeds, acquiring agricultural machinery, introducing additional agricultural land into circulation, creating vegetable storages, and issuing grants for greenhouses for farmers.
“As a result of the work, the sown area for vegetables by farmers and agricultural organizations in 2020 will be 650 hectares, which is 8% more than in 2019. The expected harvest of vegetables should be 9,7 thousand tons. According to the ministry’s forecast, the expected volume of potato production in these organizations by the end of 2020 will be 11,4 thousand tons, which will close the region’s population’s need for potatoes by 28,7%, ”the regional ministry of agriculture said.
A separate block is the development of greenhouse vegetable growing. Now the area of winter greenhouses in the region is about 7,4 hectares, and the total demand is 37 hectares.
“We have four investment projects underway. The increase in the area under greenhouses in 2020 - 2021 will amount to 5,1 hectares. The total area of winter greenhouses in 2021 will increase to 12,5 hectares, and the total planned gross volume of production of greenhouse vegetables by 2021 will increase by 2019% compared to 25 to reach 6,5 thousand tons. Thus, we will increase the self-sufficiency of vegetables to 33%, ”said Olga Kravchuk, First Deputy Minister of Economics.
The concept prescribed indicators for the future. So, by 2024, the total area of winter greenhouses in the region should be 20,8 hectares. In general, the main objective of the concept is to increase the region’s self-sufficiency by vegetables up to 2025% by 40, and potatoes - up to 80%, the Gubernia portal reports, citing the press service of the Khabarovsk Territory government.
