The European Potato Trade Association Europatat regrets that the Europatat 2020 Congress, scheduled for June 11 and 12 in Brussels, will be canceled due to the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis in Europe.
For Europatat, the safety and well-being of participants, speakers and partners of the Congress is the number one priority. The event organizers are also aware that over the past few weeks, the outbreak of coronavirus has caused massive disruptions in the work of enterprises around the world, and not least companies involved in the cultivation and sale of agricultural products.
The agri-food business is reporting increasing difficulties in its daily activities. The potato sector is going through a difficult time, and it has to solve many priority tasks in the coming months and throughout the remaining year.
Raquel Iscierdo de Santiago, Managing Director of Europatat: “The situation around Europe is changing rapidly, and, unfortunately, is not with the best prospects for our event. We have been seriously and enthusiastically working on the topic of this year related to digitalization, but, unfortunately, the circumstances facing us are not subject to universal control. ”
The next Europatat congress will take place on May 30 and 31, 2021 in Dublin, Ireland, as part of the World Potato Congress (WPC) 2021, which will be held from May 31 to June 3.
The WPC expects to bring together at least 1000 participants from around the world, including manufacturers, processors, researchers and other interested parties. Both the Europatat Congress and the WPC will focus for a week on potato, the third most important food crop in terms of global consumption.
More information on the Europatat 2021 Congress will be published on the website www.europatacongress.eu in the coming months.
