From late May to July 19, there was no rain in the Kurgan region. For almost two months, the region had a dry, sultry weather. The Zauralians began to worry: what will the harvest be like today? Will you have to bring vegetables from other areas? To find out the answer to these questions, the journalists of the Novy Mir newspaper visited ZAO Potofel in the village of Mitino, Ketovsky district. The enterprise is the largest producer of open ground vegetables not only in the Kurgan region, but, probably, in the entire Ural Federal District. The General Director of CJSC “Potato” Alexander Nemirov reassured us from the doorway: there should be no fears. It is not known how in other farms of the Kurgan region, and at his enterprise, dry weather will not affect the volume and quality of the crop.
- CJSC "Kartofel" uses land reclamation. We run it with watering machines. All agricultural crops that we grow receive the required amount of moisture, - Alexander Nemirov explained. Indeed, the cultivated areas of JSC "Potato" are pleasing to the eye. If on the uncultivated plots of land along the road the grass has withered from the sun and has already turned yellow, then on the fields the tops are tall, juicy, bright green!
- Several dams have been built in CJSC "Potato". From them water flows through pipes to different parts of the farm. The fields are operated by sprinklers with irrigation radius from 500 to 700 meters. The machines are automated. The operator monitors her on a computer from the office of our joint-stock company, - says Alexander Nemirov. The programs that control the sprinklers take into account the temperature and humidity of the air, the moisture content in the soil, the agricultural crop that grows in a given field, and many other factors. Everything is done strictly on a scientific basis. Therefore, the harvest at JSC "Potato" is excellent every year.
- We collect 40 tons of potatoes per hectare, beets - 60 tons, cabbage - 90 tons, carrots - 90-95 tons. In total, the harvest of our enterprise is about 40 thousand tons of potatoes and 20 thousand tons of other vegetable crops. This volume is enough to cover the annual demand not only of the Kurgan region, but also of other regions, - says Alexander Nemirov. We add that in the Trans-Urals, JSC "Potato" sells only a third of the harvested vegetables. The remaining two-thirds are sent to neighboring regions.
