Specialists of the protection department of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rosselkhozcenter" in the Kaliningrad region continue the annual survey of fields planned for planting potatoes, the press service of the Rosselkhozcenter reports.
The selection of soil samples to identify the golden potato nematode, which is an object of quarantine and one of the most dangerous potato pests, is carried out in peasant farms and agricultural organizations. Also, experts advise and give recommendations to owners of household plots and personal subsidiary plots.
By May 13, 1 hectares of potato crops were surveyed and 457 soil samples were taken.
In the 5 samples analyzed so far, the pest (golden potato nematode lat. Globodera Roschiensis) was not found. Surveys are ongoing.
