As part of research on the mechanization of storage and sorting of potatoes, scientists at YuUNIISK, a branch of the FGBNU Urfa Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, developed a scheme for loading a hopper of a sorting machine of the M-616 type, the press service of the scientific center reports.
Installation excludes manual loading of the bunker. The launch of a modified sorting machine made it possible to improve the quality and speed of sorting potatoes, reduce physical effort, while labor productivity increases by 5-10%.
In accordance with GOST “Seed potatoes. Specifications” seed potatoes of the category original seeds are stored in containers or on racks, disinfected from pests and diseases. With the container storage method, more efficient and uniform ventilation of products is provided along the entire height of the stack with containers. This ensures maximum shelf life of products without loss of quality. In addition, this method of storage significantly reduces the risk of injury to products during loading and unloading.
In the spring, before planting, seed potatoes are sorted and sized, divided into fractions using sorting machines, for example, sorting type M-616. The installation excludes manual loading with a shovel into the bunker of the M-616 sorting machine. The volume of the device for loading the bunker is 50% larger than the volume of the container. By an electric car, a container with potatoes is installed above the receiving device. When the latch is released, the bottom of the container opens. The tubers are poured into the receiving device. The tubers, rolling, fall into the sorting hopper. A prototype of a device for loading a sorting hopper directly from containers for storing seed potatoes was made and the installation was tested.
