The authorities of the Arkhangelsk region expect to increase potato production by almost 20% by 2025. This was reported on Thursday by TASS in the press service of the regional administration.
“At the end of 2019, the potato harvest amounted to 17,7 thousand tons, by 2025 its production should increase to 22 thousand tons,” the press service said.
The region has developed a concept for the development of potato and vegetable growing for a period up to 2025. An increase in potato production in agricultural organizations is possible both due to an increase in sown areas, and due to an increase in yield: introduction of balanced doses of fertilizers, processing of crops from diseases, pests and weeds, as well as the use of high-quality seed potatoes.
The forecast estimate of budget allocations and extra-budgetary funds for the implementation of the concept will amount to 20 million rubles.
The concept was developed on behalf of the Acting Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region, Alexander Tsybulsky, who pointed out the need for agricultural enterprises to increase agricultural production in the region.
