Every fifth farm in Russia by 2025 will use unmanned aerial vehicles to cultivate land and increase crop yields, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) Project Support Fund.
“A jump in the use of drones in the agricultural sector is possible in the next season of 2023, as well as rapid growth over a three-year horizon to reach 10 drones (approximately in every fifth farm). Growth triggers will be the experience of advanced farms, the economic effect they received in the previous season, as well as the elimination of gray areas in the legislation, ”the press service quoted the director of Agrimax.Aero (a market participant in the NTI Aeronet) Maxim Chizhov as saying.
He noted that “the number of drones intended for use in the agricultural sector in the 2022 season amounted to about 500 units, which is almost 10 times more than in 2021.”
The expert clarified that drones are used in agriculture for spraying arable land, orchards and rice paddies, monitoring crops and grazing, controlling the intended use of agricultural land, detecting anomalies, plant diseases, pests and invasive vegetation.
