Currently, the share of Russian-made seeds in the total volume of seeds in the Moscow region is 93,2%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.
Rape seeds in the amount of 50% of the demand are imported from the Republic of Belarus. Seeds of corn of Russian selection are provided at the level of 86% of the need. The missing demand was annually imported from Germany and Holland. Taking into account the fact that corn is a forage crop in the Moscow Region, the missing volumes will be replaced by domestic seeds of other forage crops.
As for potatoes, out of a total need of 37,5 thousand tons, the farms near Moscow are fully provided with seed material.
Traditionally, the farms of the Moscow region import vegetable seeds of the borscht set from abroad. This is due to the fact that the cultivation of seeds of these crops can be carried out only under certain climatic conditions (the sum of positive temperatures and moisture balance). Most of the seeds (76%) of vegetable crops are currently purchased and are on farms, some are contracted (11%).
There is no doubt that the agrarians of the Moscow region will not only maintain, but also increase production volumes this year, no, - said Sergey Voskresensky, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.
