In 2021, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the development of land reclamation in the Stavropol Territory acquired a massive character. The gradual introduction of 14 new irrigation facilities in 26 districts of the region will allow to increase the area of reclamation systems of the Stavropol Territory from 58 to 70 thousand hectares by the end of the year. To make it profitable for agricultural producers to invest in the construction of irrigation systems, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory operates a system of state support, within which agricultural enterprises can compensate for a significant part of the costs.
The Regional Ministry of Agriculture provided state support to 6 farms in the region in the direction of classical land reclamation, within the framework of which the products are sold on the domestic market. Farmers who complete the installation of equipment in October-December will receive a subsidy in the first quarter of 2022.
In 2021, 14 new irrigation projects are being implemented in 26 districts of the region on an area of more than 12 thousand hectares. This is a very time consuming and costly work that is done in stages. So, for 9 months, 10 agricultural organizations put into operation reclamation systems and immediately received compensation for about 50% of the costs incurred.
Work on the development of land reclamation in the Stavropol Territory plans to develop at the same pace. Until 2024, the region intends to increase the irrigated area by a total of 52 thousand hectares, which will require about 10 billion rubles. Thus, reclamation systems will be installed in the Stavropol Territory on an area of up to 118 thousand hectares. Activities in this direction are already underway: for 2022, new irrigation projects have been developed and put into operation, which are planned for commissioning. They will cover an area of 11,5 thousand hectares. The total amount of capital investments will exceed 948 million rubles.
