Specialists of the North Caucasian Federal University (NCFU), together with other Russian scientists and colleagues from the UAE, are developing a technology for calling precipitation from clouds, reports official website of the Eurasian Center for Food Security.
Natural clouds are local and frontal. The first appear where they are observed, the second can travel long distances. Artificially increase precipitation will help work with frontal clouds formed at the border of warm and cold air. Scientists will not only provoke rain, but also move the cloud to the area of drought or forest fires.
The new technology is based on the use of special reagents that increase the lifetime of clouds and their saturation with moisture, says a team of NCFU scientists. According to the researchers, today, weather trons are used to control the behavior of the atmospheric front - installations that create powerful vertical jets of warm, moist air. However, the energy of such a jet dries up at a height of about a kilometer.
The developed reagent, due to the condensation of water particles on it, releases heat as it rises, this increases the energy and speed of the ascending air flow. In the chemical composition of the reagent - sodium and calcium chlorides, urea. The substance will be added to the meteotron, which will increase the vertical extent of the atmospheric front. As a result, there will be not only an increase in the intensity and amount of precipitation, but also an increase in the lifetime of clouds.
