According to the estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the demand of the domestic agro-industrial complex for mineral fertilizers for 2022 will be 5 million tons of a.i.
According to the press service of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAPU), as of mid-March 2022, this plan for the supply of fertilizers by enterprises participating in the RAPU is being fully implemented, according to the schedule and contracted volumes.
According to the RAPU, according to the results of January-February of this year, about 60% of supplies to Russian agricultural producers accounted for nitrogen fertilizers - the most in demand for spring sowing. Taking into account the early start of field work in large agricultural regions, the most demanded mineral fertilizer by Russian agricultural producers - ammonium nitrate - goes exclusively to the Russian agro-industrial complex and the mining industry.
RAPU Executive Director Maxim Kuznetsov: “The Russian agro-industrial complex has been and remains a priority consumer of the mineral fertilizer industry, and domestic demand has been and remains the driver of its development. Let me remind you that over the past few years, enterprises in the industry have been working in conditions of growth in domestic demand that exceeded all possible forecasts, and it was fully provided with Russian-made products. In 2021, Russian farmers purchased almost 20% more mineral fertilizers than a year earlier, while the growth in exports of mineral fertilizers, according to the Federal Customs Service, was less than 10%.
As noted in the message of the RAPU, today the situation with the purchase and supply of mineral fertilizers in Russia is stable. There is no shortage of agrochemicals and is not expected. The domestic industry of mineral fertilizers is fully provided with domestic raw materials. As in previous years, the need of farmers for 2022 in the amount of 5 million tons of a.i. will be fully provided by Russian manufacturers.
As for the cost of production, last summer the producers fixed prices for domestic consumers. And this rate is valid for the entire period of spring field work, until the end of May. Thus, agricultural producers are both protected from the growth of costs for top dressing of winter crops and spring sowing, and have no reason to reduce the volume of mineral fertilizers.
