According to the forecast of scientists of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, in 2020 the volume of agricultural production in Ukraine will decrease by 3,6% compared to the previous year. This was announced by the director of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agricultural Economics" NAAN Academician Yuriy Lupenko, presenting the next development of the scientific team under the guidance of NAAS Academician Viktor Mesel-Veselyak "Forecast of Agricultural Production in Ukraine in 2020 (February 2020)."
According to him, such a decrease will occur due to a 5,1% decrease in crop production - mainly grain crops (-10%). A decrease in the production of sunflower seeds, rapeseed and vegetables is also expected, the scientist noted.
The livestock production volumes, according to scientists of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, will remain almost at the level of 2019 (+ 0,6%). Moreover, this increase will be achieved due to an increase in poultry production, while the rest of the main products of the livestock industry will continue to decline.
“Slowing downward dynamics is possible, first of all, by minimizing the decrease in production of the main agricultural crops - wheat, corn, sunflower, potatoes, vegetables, as well as milk and pork,” Yuri Lupenko summed up.
