The Chinese agricultural corporation "Beidahuan" may take part in a project for the production and processing of potatoes in the Amur region. The new enterprise is planned to be built on Russian territory, and deliveries of products will be made to a neighboring country. Such prospects for cooperation were discussed during the visit of the delegation of the Amur Region to the Harbin International Trade and Economic Fair.
Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Amur Region Oleg Turkov and heads of agricultural enterprises in the region visited a number of industries in Harbin. In addition, the delegation headed by the governor of the region visited one of the largest enterprises of the Beidahuan corporation - it is engaged in the production and processing of various crops.
- A large number of specialists in the delegation were from the agricultural sector. A number of projects were discussed, including the production of starch from potatoes,” said Vasily Orlov.
Now the corporation is already working with Amur producers and is ready to increase the volume of soybeans and corn purchased in the Amur Region. However, the Amur authorities offered their Chinese partners to buy ready-made locally produced products - soybean oil and meal.
The meeting also discussed the prospects for building a potato processing plant - thanks to a guaranteed market for the neighboring country, it will be more profitable for Amur farmers to deal with this crop - while it is significantly losing in popularity to the queen of the fields - soybeans. This may be the production of starch or potato flakes, which are in great demand in China.
“We talked with the Harbin Agricultural Academy and the Beidahuan Corporation about the prospect of implementing a joint project for the production and processing of potatoes in the Amur Region,” said Oleg Turkov, deputy chairman of the regional government. — Today, China is a major producer of potatoes and its products, but it also buys a lot of potato products from other countries. These are french fries, starch and potato flakes. There are real prospects that we will have a joint project - we plan to build a modern potato processing plant in the region. We are greatly supported in this direction by the Potato Union and personally by its leader Sergey Lupekhin.
Potato growing is one of the most promising areas in the region now. This year, a delegation of Amur farmers visited the west of the country, where they got acquainted with the most advanced technologies for growing potatoes and visited processing plants.
