Scientists at Astrakhan State Technical University have developed a biodegradable food wrap that can compete with plastic polymer materials. The main material for the manufacture of the new film is ichthyo gelatin, which is produced from waste from the fishing industry.
The developers suggest introducing two types of products into production at once. The first is a dense film with low stretching (it can be used in the manufacture of bags for storage and freezing of products). The second type can be used for packaging dishes from airing.
The biodegradable film is perfectly stored. A number of experiments and measurements of microbiological safety indicators have proved that the film can retain its properties for more than 100 days at room temperature.
