In the republic, spring sowing is 98,3% completed and potato planting is 96,6% completed. Such data were announced at an operational meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture of Chuvashia Sergei Artamonov.
During the meeting, it was noted that the total sown area of agricultural crops for the 2023 harvest in the Chuvash Republic exceeded 550 thousand hectares. This is 100,6% compared to the level of 2022. The area of spring sowing is 310 thousand hectares.
The forecast for sowing spring crops and legumes is 225,7 thousand hectares, which is 103,9% compared to 2022, for planting potatoes - 5,1 thousand hectares, or 100% by 2022.
Komsomolsk, Krasnochetaisky, Ibresinsky, Tsivilsky, Cheboksary, Mariinsko-Posadsky, Yadrinsky, Kozlovsky municipal districts failed to cope with the planned indicators for sowing spring grain and leguminous crops. In addition, Komsomolsk, Cheboksary, Shemurshinsky, Yadrinsky and Kanashsky districts did not fulfill the plan for planting potatoes. A low percentage of completion for sowing vegetables in Yantikovsky, Alikovsky, Cheboksary, Urmarsky, Shumerlinsky districts, and for sowing industrial crops - in Yadrinsky, Aaltyrsky, Shumerlinsky and Mariinsky-Posadsky districts.
The heads of municipalities gave explanations: part of the farms reduced the area under crops, some lands were left for sowing for winter crops, which required adjustment of production and financial plans.
“There is still time to catch up on potatoes, but there are no more spring crops sowing. I would call the work on grain crops a failure in the Kozlovsky district, badly on vegetables in the Ibresinsky, Yadrinsky districts - the plan also needs to be completely revised. Always assess the risks when making forecasts, study everything again, talk to the farms and take the issue under personal control,” Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Artamonov instructed.
