On September 5, 2018, at the State Agrarian University of the Yaroslavl Region, the “Information and Advisory Service of the Agro-Industrial Complex”, together with the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Gosortkomissiya in the Yaroslavl Region and the Department of the Agro-Industrial Complex and the Consumer Market of the Yaroslavl Region, a regional seminar was organized on the topic: “Evaluation of promising varieties of potatoes in the state variety testing and in production. ”
The event was attended by the heads and agronomists of agricultural enterprises, peasant (farmer) farms, administrations of municipal districts and specialists of state variety-testing plots.
Anna Mikhailenko, acting director of GOUA YAO "IKS APK", addressed the seminar with a welcoming speech. She talked about the development of the potato growing industry in the Yaroslavl region, touched on seed production, varietal change and varietal renewal, and also noted the importance of state varietal testing in shaping the varietal policy of the region.
The head of the branch of the FSBI "State Commission" in the Yaroslavl region Nikolai Gusev made a report "New potato varieties in state variety testing." In the framework of import substitution, special attention was paid to varieties of Russian selection.
He assessed the varieties of potatoes that are under state varietal testing, and varieties approved for use in the production of the Yaroslavl region for 2018.
Within the framework of the seminar, Fedor Puzdrya, Director General of Susaninsky Nursery LLC, made an environmental test of new domestic competitive varieties of potatoes in comparison with popular foreign varieties.
The seminar touched upon the issues of potato cultivation technology with microbiological preparations. Holding this seminar will help agricultural specialists in the future to plan varietal change and varietal renewal in their farms.
