At the beginning of 2020, the production of frozen vegetables, fruits and berries increased by 17,4 thousand tons compared to last year.
According to the study “Market of fresh vegetables, fruits and berries in Russia: research and forecast until 2024” ROIF Expert agency, the share of Russian products in the domestic market of frozen vegetables, fruits and berries increased from 30% (2016) to 44% (2019) and 53,2% (beginning of 2020). In general, compared with the volume of 2016 to 2019, production in physical terms increased by 55%. Revenues for the same period increased 1,7 times.
“Import deliveries in the segment of frozen fruits and vegetables continue to play a very important role. At the peak, the revenue of foreign companies in the Russian market amounted to $ 296 million, which is more than the figure achieved in 2016 by 58,4%, ”the study says.
The growth in imports of frozen vegetables, fruits and berries until the second half of 2018 is due to price stability. By the end of 2018, wholesale prices for Russian and imported products had leveled off. In 2019, the export of frozen fruits and vegetables was estimated at $ 29,1 million.
