The export of onions from the Netherlands is going at a fast pace this season. Due to continued demand, yellow onion prices have risen, according to portal Nieuweoogst.nl.
This week at the agricultural exhibition Goes registered the first yellow onion at a price of 30 to 31 euros per 100 kilograms. For onions sold abroad, Landbouwbeurs Noord - en Centraal-Nederland in Emmeloord has been setting an indicative price of up to 30 euros per 100 kg for several weeks now. Prices for red onions are the same as for yellow ones.
At the moment, the demand for onions is slightly higher than the supply. Early reports of the 2022 harvest indicate that total production in the Netherlands is 20 to 25 percent lower than last year. The overall quality of the bow seems to be good.
The new export season started quickly. Up to week 34, over 173 tons were shipped for export, about 000 tons more than last year after eight weeks of export. The largest consumer is Côte d'Ivoire, with almost 13 tons of products delivered to this country. Significant volumes are also entering the Senegal market, with 000 tons shipped to the West African country through week 31.
