In the farm “Ponomarevo” (Stavropol Territory) there will be a farm for growing ladybirds.
Everyone will be able to see how this variety of beetles will be bred on the farm when the regime of self-isolation is removed in the country. However, the main thing for which the farm will engage in such an unusual type of activity is plant protection.
- Ladybugs are one of the best natural entomophages. That is, they eat other insects, many of which are pests and pose a serious threat to crops. This is such a natural way to protect the crop, ”Roman Ponomarev, head of the farm, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He noted that adult beetles and their larvae destroy pests. And guests of the farm will be able to observe the entire breeding process and growth stages. Periodically, whole batches of insects will be released on the field to protect crops.
