Potatoes are a familiar crop for us, which we often eat and grow in the country. But is the potato as simple as it seems to us?
At the lecture, agronomist Maria Polyakova will talk about the secret life of potatoes in test tubes, a winter greenhouse and special installations. Step by step, together we will go through the entire "potato path" from the test tube to the grids in the grocery store. And along the way we will talk about the history of culture, its diseases, pests, varieties and new discoveries in the field of potato growing. The lecturer is Maria Polyakova, agronomist-potato grower, seed breeder, biotechnologist, author of the Flamya potato variety, news editor of the Potato System magazine. She worked in the group of aeroponic technologies for growing plants of the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, at the Field Experimental Station of the Timiryazev Academy, at the Institute of Potato Farming. The meeting was held in the Bauman Garden as part of the PRO-food Lecture Hall of the Nekrasov Library.
